EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is sometimes referrred to as "acupuncture without needles". Instead of using needles to stimulate the energy points or meridians of the body, we use a gentle tapping with the finger tips.

Just as acupuncture is believed to work through unblocking energy in the body system, EFT is believed to work in the same way.

You are asked to repeat a simple expression of the problem you are experiencing while tapping on specific energy points, having rated the discomfort level of the problem on a scale of 0-10. This has the effect of establishing a link between the body and the mind, allowing a shift in the energy relating to the problem. After each round of tapping which lasts little more than a minute, you are asked to rate your current discomfort level. We generally find a substantial and sometimes dramatic shift within three rounds of tapping.

Deeper issues can take longer as we uncover the protective layers around them but even with this relief comes in gradual stages virtually from the beginning in most cases. When the core issues or triggers behind a problem are reached, the results are permanent and require no further treatment.

EFT has produced remarkable results for many people around the world and has been adopted by Mental Health Care practitoners in the Scottish NHS. It is especially beneficial in case of trauma, post traumatic stress syndrome, phobias, anxiety and unresolved grief.

It has also been successfully applied to physical problems such as pain, physical injury and illness. In the field of sports, it has been demonstrated to improve performance and is well documented to have completely cleared long standing problems such as golfer's yips. Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, states that we should "Try it on Everything". There is nothing to lose except feeling a little silly tapping away, but that is a small price to pay for what you may gain through the process.

One of the added bonuses of working with  a therapist trained in EFT, is that you get to take the technique home with you. You have the experience of having it clearly demonstrated to you. You know what it can do and once you know how to do it , you can use it on anything you want to change in your life for the rest of your life.

Combined with hypnotherapy and NLP, this is an extraordinary powerful way of creating real change.
